ATA Supports Medicare Licensing Bill to Reduce Barriers to Health Care

ATA is part of a group of 21 national associations and businesses that sent letters of support to expand interstate access to care by Medicare beneficiaries.   The Telemedicine for Medicare Act (S. 1778 and H.R. 3081) would allow Medicare physicians licensed in one state to treat Medicare patients in another state without having to obtain an additional license for each state. The Department of Defense health professional already operate under a one state license plan approved by Congress and some other federal agencies by administrative policy. The letter sent to the TELE-MED sponsors in Congress stated: “Enacting a less burdensome program for licensure for Medicare will improve access at a lower cost.” Read more…
