Facing incurable breast cancer at age 55, MaryAnne DiCanto put her faith in \u201cprecision medicine\u201d \u2014 in which doctors try to match patients with drugs that target the genetic mutations in their tumors. She underwent repeated biopsies to identify therapies that might help.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe believed in it wholeheartedly,\u201d said her husband, Scott Primiano of Amityville, N.Y., a flood-insurance broker. \u201cYou live on hope for so long, it\u2019s hard to let go.\u201d<\/p>\n
