And not all the news has been good: A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2018\/11\/26\/670752865\/chinese-scientist-says-hes-first-to-genetically-edit-babies\"> Chinese scientist stunned <\/a>the world last year when he announced he had used CRISPR to create genetically modified babies.<\/p>\n<p>But scientists have long hoped CRISPR \u2014 a technology that allows scientists to make very precise modifications to DNA \u2014 could eventually help cure many diseases.
