{"id":14076,"date":"2019-09-20T08:26:37","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T12:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=14076"},"modified":"2019-09-20T08:26:37","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T12:26:37","slug":"how-cruise-ship-passengers-should-prepare-for-sickness-or-injury-at-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=14076","title":{"rendered":"How Cruise Ship Passengers Should Prepare For Sickness Or Injury At Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(By Bruce Horovitz for Kaiser Health News)<\/p>\n<p>Royal Caribbean\u2019s gargantuan Oasis of the Seas boasts four outdoor pools and an 82-foot zip line and made quite a splash shortly after its 2014 refurbishment when it added the first Tiffany &amp; Co boutique at sea.<\/p>\n<p>But in January 2019, the cruise ship, which bills itself one of the world\u2019s largest, produced less cheerful news: Hundreds of passengers fell ill from the highly contagious norovirus stomach flu.<\/p>\n<p>The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 561 passengers and 31 crew members were treated for the ultra-contagious gastrointestinal illness on a cruise out of Port Canaveral, Fla.
