EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. \u2014 Ethel Sylvester dialed 911, trembling with fear. The 92-year-old felt hot. She thought turning off her thermostat could fix the problem. That didn\u2019t help.<\/p>\n

Alone in her apartment, in the middle of the night, Sylvester didn\u2019t know what was happening to her body. She feared it was COVID-19. Her neighbor and twin sister, Edna Mayes, had no idea her best friend was in trouble.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t get to the door,\u201d said Sylvester, recounting last month\u2019s incident. \u201cI was shaking, just shaking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paramedics rushed her to St. Louis University Hospital where the staff determined that Sylvester had \u201cno signs\u201d of COVID-19 but instead had a case of high blood pressure and anxiety.\u00a0 Continue reading article here…<\/a><\/p>\n
