Medicare provides coverage to more than 60 million people in the United States and is the second-largest program in the federal budget.\u00a0 If you are turning 65, your initial enrollment begins three months before your birthday, the month of your birthday and three months after your birthday.\u00a0 Do I need to sign up? If you are already receiving Social Security benefits, you will be automatically enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B the month you turn 65, otherwise you will need to sign up for it.
