Usually, young-onset Alzheimer\u2019s disease can run in families and is linked to specific genes. Also, there are other types of dementia that can strike in middle age: Frontotemporal, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), and alcohol-related dementia. Often, families, friends and even some medical professionals can be fooled until the symptoms become severe. Sometimes, patients with young-onset dementia often receive diagnoses like depression, sleep deprivation, bipolar disorder, substance abuse and other illness that seem to explain the symptoms.
