{"id":16454,"date":"2020-07-16T10:50:08","date_gmt":"2020-07-16T14:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=16454"},"modified":"2020-07-16T10:50:08","modified_gmt":"2020-07-16T14:50:08","slug":"more-education-is-needed-on-how-to-best-utilize-hsas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=16454","title":{"rendered":"More education is needed on how to best utilize HSAs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The results from a recent survey conducted by Optum Bank and Empower Retirement found although HSAs provide a variety of benefits for employees, they are in need of more education on how best to utilize this tool for long-term savings.\u00a0 The results also showed that there is a significant knowledge gap on how an HSA can work for the participant on budgeting or understanding of how much health care will cost once they retire.\u00a0 Actually the survey showed that more than a third of the respondents were \u201cnot very or not at all aware\u201d of how much money they will need for health care in retirement , and less than a quarter have separate funds set aside for those expenses.\u00a0 In Heather Nevitt\u2019s article appearing on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benefitpro.com\">www.benefitpro.com<\/a> she writes even if the employees did know, could they and would they use a health savings account for retirement?
