The oldest of seven children, Acklin was born on Thanksgiving Day in his grandmother\u2019s house in the small Missouri town of West Plains.<\/p>\n<p>Acklin was drafted and sent to Vietnam, where life was different.<\/p>\n<p>Running convoys in the motorcade from Saigon to Cambodia was \u201cquite something for somebody who\u2019d never been anywhere before,\u201d Acklin laughs. \u201cIt was eye-opening.
