SAN DIEGO \u2014 Erinn Maury knew Remicade wasn\u2019t the right drug for Patti Schulte, a rheumatoid arthritis patient the physician saw at her Millersville, Maryland, practice. Schulte\u2019s swollen, painful joints hadn\u2019t responded to Enbrel or Humira, two drugs in the same class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the insurer insisted, so Schulte went on Remicade. It didn\u2019t work either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s more, Schulte suffered a severe allergic reaction to the infusion therapy, requiring a heavy dose of prednisone, a steroid with grave side effects if used at high doses for too long. Continue reading here…<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
