The 2025 reconciliation law, once called the \u201cOne Big Beautiful Bill,\u201d signed by President Trump on July 4, 2025,\u00a0requires 44 states\u00a0(including\u00a0DC)\u00a0to\u00a0condition Medicaid eligibility for adults in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Medicaid expansion group and\u00a0certain\u00a0enrollees in 1115\u00a0waiver programs\u00a0on meeting work requirements starting January 1, 2027. Currently, 41 states (including DC) have expanded their Medicaid programs under the ACA to\u00a0nearly all\u00a0adults with income up to 138% FPL ($21,597 for an individual in 2025).\u00a0In June 2026, CMS released a list of\u00a0states with\u00a01115\u00a0waiver programs that include individuals who will be subject to work requirements. The list\u00a0identifies\u00a0waiver programs in\u00a0three non-expansion states Georgia, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, as well as in five expansion states, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, and Utah\u00a0(Figure 1).\u00a0\u00a0 Continue reading here…<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
