{"id":2810,"date":"2016-05-08T05:00:50","date_gmt":"2016-05-08T09:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=2810"},"modified":"2016-05-06T10:00:47","modified_gmt":"2016-05-06T14:00:47","slug":"fda-retreats-from-recall-of-scope-cleaning-machines-tied-to-outbreaks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=2810","title":{"rendered":"FDA Retreats From Recall Of Scope-Cleaning Machines Tied to Outbreaks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(By Chad Terhune for Kaiser Health News)<\/p>\n<p>The Food and Drug Administration has dropped a recall of some 2,800 scope-cleaning machines in use at hospitals and clinics nationwide despite a finding by a top agency scientist last year that the action was \u201cnecessary to protect public health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FDA had ordered the equipment off the market in November because it said Custom Ultrasonics of Ivyland, Pennsylvania, had repeatedly violated federal safety laws and those lapses could increase the risk of infection for patients.
