{"id":2890,"date":"2016-05-16T08:16:57","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T12:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=2890"},"modified":"2016-05-16T08:16:57","modified_gmt":"2016-05-16T12:16:57","slug":"five-health-issues-presidential-candidates-arent-talking-about-but-should-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medicarereport.org\/?p=2890","title":{"rendered":"Five Health Issues Presidential Candidates Aren\u2019t Talking About \u2014 But Should Be"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(By Julie Rovner for Kaiser Health News)<\/p>\n<p>References to the Affordable Care Act \u2014 sometimes called Obamacare \u2014 have been a regular feature of the current presidential campaign season.<\/p>\n<p>For months, Republican candidates have pledged to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/health-insurance\/20160129\/presidential-candidates-abortion-obamacare\" target=\"_blank\">repeal it<\/a>, while Democrat Hillary Clinton <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2016\/02\/23\/467736627\/hillary-clinton-hitches-her-health-care-wagon-to-obamacare\" target=\"_blank\">wants to build on it<\/a> and Democrat Bernie Sanders wants to replace it with a government-funded \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/berniesanders.com\/issues\/medicare-for-all\/\" target=\"_blank\">Medicare for All<\/a>\u201d program.<\/p>\n<p>But much of the policy discussion stops there. Yet the nation in the next few years faces many important decisions about health care \u2014 most of which have little to do with the controversial federal health law.
