A government shutdown will have far-reaching effects for public health, including the nation\u2019s response to the current, difficult flu season. It will also disrupt some federally supported health services, experts said Friday.<\/p>\n

In all, the Department of Health and Human Services will send home \u2014 or furlough \u2014 about half of its employees, or nearly 41,000 people, according to an HHS shutdown contingency\u00a0plan\u00a0released Friday.<\/p>\n
