Is Medicare WISeR model working?
The Medicare WISeR (Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction) Model is a six-year Medicare initiative, starting January 1, 2026, that uses AI-driven prior authorization to reduce low-value or unnecessary services in six states. The voluntary model will run for six performance years from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2031, in six states: New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and Washington. But is it going smoothly?
