Dual eligible Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Advantage saw lower healthcare costs

A recent study by Better Medicare Alliance found “dual eligible beneficiaries were more likely to choose a Medicare Advantage plan over a fee-for-service Medicare plan.” Dual eligible individuals are those individuals who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid because they typically have incomes near or below the federal poverty level. Also, dual-eligible beneficiaries tend to have complex medical and social needs, which may be one of the reasons why they choose a Medicare Advantage plan that can provide supplemental benefits that fit their specific health conditions.
