Behind the Medicare Part B increase

Although Social Security recipients will see the highest cost-of-living adjustment in almost 40 years; however, for Medicare beneficiaries, the raise will be diminished by an even larger cost increase in their Part B premiums. Part B premium increase of $21.60, which is deducted monthly from Social Security recipients’ checks, will reduce the net cost of the COLA increase by varying amounts, depending on a person’s benefit level.
