Copay Accumulators

According to a recent survey of 170 employers conducted by the National Business Group on Health, 17 percent of employers are using copay accumulators, but 29 percent will do so in 2019 to keep drug costs down. With copay accumulators, the value of copay assistance cards or coupons do not count toward out-of-pocket costs that are applied toward deductibles so more upfront costs are shifted to consumers and away from employers and other payers.
