New Rule Would Make it Easier for Medicare to Authorize Payment for Medical Equipment & Supplies

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has issued a final rule to create a prior authorization process for certain durable medical equipment and supplies, including prosthetic devices. The new process helps ensure that medical equipment and supplies are provided consistent with Medicare coverage and payment rules. The new process will require the same information currently needed for Medicare payment, just earlier in the process. Comment deadline is March 2, 2016. Read more…
