Medicare expanding access to hospice care

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) new star ratings is on Home Health Compare, CMS’s public information website for Home Health Agencies. Many seniors, disabled Americans, and family members of individuals who suffer from life limiting illnesses must choose between the support services provided through hospice care or curative treatment. Agencies were evaluated by how quickly they started visiting a patient, whether they explained all the drugs a patient was taking either to the patient or their caretaker and whether they made sure a patient got a flu shot for the season.
