Medigap insurers are struggling to attact new Medicare recipients

Medicare program gives enrollees the ability to see any providers who take Medicare coverage, but it requires patients to pay deductibles, co-payments and coinsurance amounts.  Also, there are no caps on the enrollees’ out-of-pocket costs. Of the 37.5 million people who have Medicare, 37 percent of the people use Medigap insurance policies to fill in the original Medicare coverage gaps. The Medigap insurance market is highly competitive; however, insurers may have been better at holding on to longtime Medigap insurance users in 2019 than at attracting new users. Read article here…
