Food pantries at the VA medical facilities

As part of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ whole health approach to treating veterans under its care, it is creating food pantries at its medical centers across the nation.  In a public-private partnership with Feeding America, a nonprofit organization with a network of more than 200 food banks nationwide as created the food pantry project.  Currently there are 18 food pantries in operation at VA locations and to date the program has served more than 700,000 meals to veterans, including those with dietary and health restrictions, such as diabetes.  The food pantry program is part of the VA’s whole health approach to treating veterans under its care.  Read article here…
