Medicare Savings Programs

If you have Medicare and need help with your health care costs, there are programs to help.  Depending on your income and assets, you may get help paying for Medicare by applying for Medicare Savings Programs.  There are three types of Medicare Savings Programs (MSPS): Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB), Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Program (SLMB), and Qualified Individual (QI).  In Joel Mekler’s column he explains how to qualify for Medicare Savings program and what each program covers.
