Who is eligible for Medicare?

Medicare typically covers people aged 65 and over; however, it provides coverage to younger people with disability who receive SSDI benefits.  Medicare starts after someone has received SSDI benefits for two years, except for those individuals with end stage renal disease (ESRD) or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS); their waiting period is shorter.  The attached article explores Medicare coverage for disabled individuals and the rules on eligibility.
