What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health plan for people aged 65 years and over that was signed into law in 1965 by the late president Lyndon B. Johnson.  Over the years it has expanded to add Medicare Part C or Medicare Advantage plans and Part D for prescription drug coverage.
