How does creditable coverage work in Medicare?

If you are eligible for Medicare but you have creditable coverage, you can delay signing up for Medicare without penalty But, what is Medicare creditable coverage?  Creditable coverage refers to health insurance that covers as much as or more than Medicare Part A, Part B and Part D.
