How to choose between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans

When you sign up for Medicare you have a choose either a Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare Supplement plan that complements original Medicare.  So, what is the difference? Medicare Advantage plans replace Original Medicare, but you don’t lose any benefits; actually, most Medicare Advantage plans include extra benefits for routine vision and dental care and nearly all include Part D prescription drug coverage.  Whereas Medicare Supplement plans you usually don’t get any extra benefits and if Medicare doesn’t cover a service, neither will your Medicare supplement plan.
