What is “emotional lability”?

Is crying excessively part of the progression of Alzheimer’s disease? Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease release emotions, but it is more excessive and dramatic, and this emotional state can be very confusing for them. These exaggerated episodes may indicate what is called “emotional lability” or “emotional incontinence” which is caused by the progression of the disease and often are not the true emotions of the affected individual.
