Temporary inability to retrieve a memory is called blocking

We all have said it “it’s on the tip of my tongue” when we cannot recall a certain word or name. But do you know there is a specific term for this? It’s called “blocking”, and it happens when there are competing memories, the one you want and there’s another similar often you retrieve the wrong one.
