Out-of-pocket costs for brand-name drugs increased by 15 percent

A recent JAMA study found the median out-of-pocket costs increased by 15 percent for brand-name medications. The JAMA Network Open study found nearly 53.7 percent of patients paid drug deductible or coinsurance increased when manufacturers increased list prices. The study consisted of 79 brand-name drugs with available pricing data obtained from the national commercial insurance claims database from January 2015 to December 2017.
