Transcranial magnetic stimulation a possible treatment for Alzheimer’s disease

Around 6.2 million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s disease. With no effective interventions for disease prevention or slowing the disease, this represents a looming health care crisis as the population ages. One therapy that is gaining interest is transcranial magnetic stimulation. TMS therapy was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a treatment for major depression in 2008; in certain types of migraine headaches in 2013; however, FDA has not approved it as a therapy for treating dementia.
