Medicare Advantage costs the federal government less than traditional Medicare

A recent report compares Medicare Advantage plans to fee-for-service (FSS) Medicare and found the federal government spends less money per person per month on a Medicare Advantage plan member.  The researchers found the federal government spends $949 per person per month on FFS Medicare whereas, the government spends $943 per person per month on Medicare Advantage, which includes the cost of additional benefits.
