Critical reforms are needed to strengthen and improve Medicare Advantage

A Medicare Advantage Plan (like an HMO or PPO) is another Medicare health plan choice you may have as part of Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans, sometimes called “Part C” or “MA Plans,” are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. According to a February report from CMS, Medicare Advantage enrollment has reached nearly 31.2 million. However, even though MA has outperformed traditional Medicare in several areas, there is a need for critical reforms to strengthen and improve the program. Robert Moffit, Senior Research Fellow, Center for Health and Welfare Policy at The Heritage Foundation, recently published a paper on Preparing Medicare Advantage for Comprehensive Medicare Reform.
