Could the Medicare Advantage plans be a model to save Medicare?

On March 16, 2016, at a hearing on preserving and strengthening Medicare; the influential subcommittee chairman Pat Tiberi (R-Ohio) said Medicare’s fee-for-service program should be reformed to closely resemble the Medicare Advantage program. Medicare’s traditional fee-for-service reimbursement method is on a trajectory of higher costs and little innovation; whereas, the Medicare Advantage program is based on market principles.
