Medicare Open Enrollment will start Oct. 15th
Due to the government shutdown, updates to information on the Medicare.gov website may be limited or delayed. Your Medicare benefits and coverage will continue as before, and you can go to your doctor and access the health care services you need. But will the government shutdown impact Medicare Open Enrollment? Chris Fong, a Medicare specialist and the CEO of Smile Insurance Group, stated, “The government shutdown is not going to affect Medicare or the plans that are being presented. However, seniors should expect delays in the processing of applications if they are looking to make a change this AEP (annual enrollment period).” Suzanne Blake, writing for Newsweek, says Medicare Open enrollment will still start on October 15th.
