Medicare Advantage in the Crosshairs

The 2025 edition of that yearly stressful period called “Annual Enrollment Period,” or AEP for short, ended just a few weeks ago, and seniors have made their choices for 2026. Now, on the heels of this annual review process, come public opinions from two well-known voices that may cast doubt on the decisions of those who selected Medicare Advantage (MA) plans as their source of coverage for the coming year. In a moneywise post on Yahoo!Finance, reporter Monique Danao examines recent comments expressed by comedian John Oliver and personal finance expert Suze Orman, suggesting that abandonment of their MA may be a prudent course for certain beneficiaries.

The opinions expressed by Ms. Danoa suggest carefully reviewing “Annual Notice of Change” documents to reassess the applicability of MA plans to individuals’ needs while there is still an opportunity to change, and her post provides a checklist for readers to conduct a self-evaluation. If you’re on the fence about this issue, this is a worthwhile read. Check it out in full here.
