Scientist Shoukhrat Mitalipov, who directs the Center for Embryonic Cell and Gene Therapy at Oregon Health & Science University has pioneered a method dubbed “three-parent embryos” which he has tried only on mice and a handful of monkeys and is eager to try the technique on humans to prevent disease.
