Congress not waiting for CMS to reform Medicare Skilled Nursing reimbursement

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) called for cuts to Medicare’s skilled nursing reimbursement, but lawmakers in Congress appeared ready to shape payment reform themselves. Congress is not required to follow any recommendations from MedPAC and several House members formed their own bipartisan caucus to look at value-based reform instead of waiting for CMS to roll out its changes.
