Employers are questioning a system they say costs patients so much

According to a recent survey by the National Business Group of Health, 39 percent of large employers offer only high-deductible plans, up from seven percent in 2009. In a separate survey by the Federal Reserve, only about 41 percent people say they cannot pay a $400 emergency expense without borrowing or selling something. Employers thinking has been that requiring workers to shoulder more of the cost of care will also encourage them to cut back on unnecessary spending; however, it didn’t work out that way.
