Community paramedicine

In attempt to avoid unnecessary and costly hospital visits, a pilot program in Massachusetts which will allow a small number of paramedics to treat patients with urgent medical needs at home. As part of an emerging field known as community paramedicine or mobile integrated health, these paramedics, with special training and working under the supervision of physicians, can examine patients, administer medications, and provide care instructions.
