How Are Drug Prices Determined?
According to Rx Savings Solutions, a consulting firm for health insurance plans and employers, found in the first half of 2019, pharmaceutical companies raised the prices of 3,400 drugs by an average of 10.5 percent, five times the rate of inflation. Due to the byzantine drug distribution system, it is difficult to pinpoint just who is jacking up prices, much less how to slow them down.
