Medicare beneficiaries who are seriously ill struggle with financial burdens as a result of high out-of-pocket medical costs
In a recent survey conducted by Harvard University found that 30 percent of Medicare beneficiaries who are seriously ill reported having the most difficulty paying for prescription drugs, followed by hospital bills (25 percent). The beneficiaries (36 percent) also reported experiencing financial hardships due to the cost of their illness and 45 percent respondents also reported emotional or psychological distress.
