Limitations on Retiree Health Benefits Becoming the Norm

The 2022 KFF Employer Health Benefits Survey, a study focusing on over 2,000 interviews with non-federal public and private firms, suggests changing trends with respect to the provision of health benefits to Medicare-age retirees. Kaiser Family Foundation’s post reports that “…just 13 percent of large employers currently offer retiree health benefits to Medicare-age retirees.” In many cases, it’s reported that offering their Medicare-eligible retirees coverage through Medicare Advantage plans is becoming a frequent cost-containment strategy in many companies.
