Medicare Advantage plans have seen growing enrollment so has excess payments

Medicare pays Medicare Advantage plans a set amount for each enrollee. In 2022, 49 percent of eligible Medicare beneficiaries were enrolled in a Medicare Advantage health plan. However, experts are calling out the program’s excess payments, with the average monthly rebate per enrollee now $196 in 2023.
