Full Practice Authority for Nurse Practitioners is Growing Slowly

In twenty-one states plus the District of Columbia, laws establishing full practice authority for nurse practitioners are in place, but the fight to allow it in the remaining states is going slowly.

Full practice authority allows a nurse practitioner to put into practice what they learned in school without the required oversight by physicians. Nurse practitioners can administer a wider range of care and prescribe most drugs without having to maintain a relationship with a physician, allowing the physicians to focus on those patients needing a higher level of care.  Read article here….
