Combating Fraud with Science
The Attorney General of New Mexico, Hector Balderas, is applying a concept from industrial engineering to prove fraud was committed in a chain of nursing homes in the state.
The state lawyers’ used time and motion studies to show how long it takes health care staffers to do basic care such as bathing and feeding to prove that they were severely under-staffed, they couldn’t possibly have provided for the care that they charged the state of New Mexico’s Medicaid program nor private-pay residents for.
