Medicare to Save $343 Million on Joint Replacements over the Next 5 years.

Beginning April 1, 2016, Medicare is changing the way hospitals will be paid for hip and knee replacement in 67 metro areas in United States with a pilot program called Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement.

In 2014, Medicare paid $7 billion on hip and knee replacements for hospitalization alone. Medicare in an effort to rein in cost is focusing on not only the cost but the quality of care for a 90-day period that starts with a patient’s hospital admission.  Read article here…..
