Medicare is a federal health insurance program for individuals aged 65 and older. Medicare recipients can choose to stay with Original Medicare or enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicare Advantage (Part C) offers additional benefits through private insurance plans. Original Medicare allows you to see any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare, while Medicare Advantage plans may require you to use a network of providers. However, there are other differences between Medicare and Medicare Advantage.
