Florida’s Mosquito Control Forces Mobilize Against Zika Threat

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A late-morning thunderstorm had just passed when Evaristo Miqueli reached the faded yellow house with its overgrown plants and algae-covered swimming pool and laid a trap to catch Florida’s most wanted mosquitoes.

As Miqueli explored the property, he covered an open pipe, turned empty flower pots upside down and foraged for garbage scraps in plain sight — all to make the place less hospitable for the mosquitoes to thrive. Setting a trap took him less than 10 minutes, and he would return the next day to retrieve his catch. Read article here…..
