Despite Public Sentiment, House GOP Moving Ahead With Medicare “Premium Support”

House Republicans are making plans for an ambitious Medicare overhaul after the 2016 elections, the National Journal reported today, which would include the long-discussed change to “premium support,” which Democrats deride as a voucher plan. US Representative Kevin Brady, the Texas Republican who chairs the House Ways and Means Health subcommittee, said the tough work of drafting language for changes to Medicare would get under way now in time for introduction in early 2017, when Republicans hope they will no longer be dealing with divided government.
